Open **Docs** and select a document to edit its title and body. Changes autosave as a draft; they do not replace the released version until an owner releases them.

## Write and format the body

Use the toolbar for text styles, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, links, lists, and undo or redo. Markdown shortcuts also format text as you type.

Press `/` in the body to insert a block. The menu includes headings, bulleted and numbered lists, blockquotes, tables, code blocks, note/warning/tip callouts, accordions, and videos.

Table and callout controls appear when you are editing those blocks. Table cells hold inline content on a single line; use **Tab** to move between cells.

The slash menu is not a list of every format a stored doc can contain. See [Markdown](/markdown) for the full format, including content that requires source editing.

## Check autosave

The save status shows whether changes are still being saved or have reached the server. Check it before leaving the page, especially after a large edit or a connection problem.

If the body contains invalid syntax, such as raw HTML outside a code block, the editor shows a problem instead of saving it. This is different from valid Markdown that needs source editing. Correct any reported errors before releasing. The release action saves any remaining valid changes before making the updated revision current.

Autosave does not create a history entry for every pause in typing. It can update your current working draft during an editing session. See [Releasing](/releasing) for how revisions are kept.

## Preview the page

Use **Edit** to write and **Preview** to inspect the rendered body, including tables, callouts, accordions, and video embeds.

These tabs do not switch between visual editing and Markdown source. Teaflask chooses the editing mode from the stored body:

- **Visual editor:** used when the editor can read and save the Markdown without changing its formatting.
- **Markdown source:** used when the body contains formatting outside that supported subset, or a spelling the visual editor would rewrite.

Source mode is still editable, and **Preview** remains available. Seeing Markdown syntax there does not mean the whole document has become a code block.

## Tags and help-center visibility

Use **Add tag** above the title to find an existing tag or create one. Tags inherited from a folder must be changed on that folder, not removed from the doc. See [Organizing](/organizing).

Under **Doc actions**, **Show in Help Center** controls whether the released doc is available on the public help center. Turning it off does not prevent an agent from reading the doc if its knowledge scope includes it. See [Agent knowledge](/agent-knowledge) for agent access.

## History, deletion, and restoration

**History** lets you inspect revisions and their differences. Restoring an earlier revision creates a new draft; release that draft if you want readers to receive it.

**Delete doc** moves the document to **Recently deleted** and removes its public page. It can be restored while it remains there. Restoration uses its former folder if that folder still exists, or leaves it unfiled otherwise. If its old address has been taken, it receives a new one.

Restoration retains the document's previous release. A previously released, shown doc can therefore become publicly available again when restored to a live help center.
